Following in the footsteps of Christie Brinkley and daughter Alexa Joel, plastic surgery is becoming a mother/daughter team effort more and more often. As reported on The Today Show’s website, today.msnbc.msn.com, cosmetic surgeons are saying they see family pairs more often now than ever.
Reportedly, Christie Brinkley underwent afacelift last month while her daughter with rocker Billy Joel, Alexa Joel had arhinoplasty. Sound familiar? Just last year on The Real Housewives of Orange Countymother/daughter team Lynne Curtin and her daughter Raquel underwent the same set of procedures.
Though the reasons behind a decision to have procedures performed together vary, many of the duos start out with the mothers, physicians say. Mom decides to have some surgery and after seeing the fantastic results, the daughter will want to have work done as well. Often times, teams will share a family trait, like their nose or big arms, and decide to have it changed at the same time.
Patients enjoy the camaraderie of healing together and are able to easily relate to one another during the recovery process. The teams enjoy the feeling of undertaking a project together and feeling as if someone knows exactly what they’re going through.
