Fab Tips for Four-Eyed Beauties
I’m surrounded by beautiful women. Stunning, attractive, funny, and smart women who work here at the Sephora corporate offices. And the ladies that particularly stand out to me are the ones that wear glasses; eyeglasses, spectacles, prescription frames, rims, etc. They have completely debunked the dated adage “Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses.” This is not only because their cool frames help them stand out, but also they exude a confidence that is incredibly inspiring; inspiring to someone like me, who is ridiculously blind and has a “four eyes, coke-bottle glasses” complex. (I’ve worn contacts for a decade.) I feel like my nerdy-ness and homeliness is magnetized by a thousand when I wear glasses, which why I only sport them in the confines of my own home. But seeing my co-workers look so darn cool in their killer frames has sparked a shift in my eye wear stigma. But before I cleaned my lenses for public viewing, I decided to research some makeup tips that would help flaunting glasses flawless. Here are some helpful tips for all the current and future four-eyed beauties:
Keep your brows defined, to frame your frames. To keep my brows maintained, I use Benefit’s Brow Zings .
Use high quality mascara so it won’t smudge, but be careful not to go overboard—it can result in smears on your lenses. I never go wrong with Dior DiorShow Extase Mascara .
Don’t skip the concealer! Depending on the strength of your prescription, some glasses actually magnify the area around your eye, drawing attention to an imperfections, like dark circles. Amazing Concealer is always…amazing.
Use matte, dark shades to make eyes appear less pronounced behind lenses. Opt for frosty, light colors to make eyes appear more enhanced. Tarte’s TEN Limited Edition Collector’s Palette ($182 Value) includes everything you need.
Avoid shine and oiliness on the bridge of your nose to reduce breakouts and visible pores. We here all use SEPHORA COLLECTION Matte Blotting Papers .
Remember those archetypal scenes when a woman would shake her hair down from a bun and tear off their glasses? That’s no longer the standard. My ravishing, highly intelligent co-workers here prove that glasses do look sexy. So my fellow four-eyed sisters, I beseech to you: proudly wear your sexy specs and bask in the glory of being visually challenged. As a fine-looking gentleman once said to me, “Girls with glasses? That look is definitely 20/20.” —Joyce Dulanas
