Aishwarya Rai and Kate Winslet to Costar In L’Oreal Commercial
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a Bollywood star and former Miss World, is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. However, her career in the West has not really taken off. That might all be changing now that she’s slated to appear in a L’Oreal commercial alongside Oscar winner Kate Winslet. OneIndia reports that the two actresses will be shooting the upcoming ad in Italy: there’s no word on exactly which product or line they’ll be promoting. I have to say that it’s really exciting to see an Indian woman featured so prominently in a beauty advertisement. “Women of color” often get all lumped together, with a single token woman (usually Beyonce or Rihanna) supposedly representing a huge variety of skin tones. Good on L’Oreal for choosing Aishwarya for this ad – if anything, I can’t believe it didn’t happen sooner.
